The Ottawa Food Bank Food Drive has ended and we are so excited to announce that it was a huge success. Thanks to the very generous families of Steve MacLean Public School we collected approximately 50 boxes of non perishable items to donate.
We have not received the final weigh-in but we believe it is the most our school has ever collected.
The four wining classes in Kindergarten and the three divisions will be enjoying a pizza party this week as a thank you. In the new year the two older winning classes will have the opportunity to visit the Food Bank for a tour and to help sort food items. The classes who attended last year found this to be an amazing experience and enjoyed seeing firsthand how the Ottawa Food Bank works.
Thank you to Brenda Torrington-Smith and Chanelle Daigle who organized their teams of grade sevens to sort and tally the totals each day. A huge thank you to the Student Council for doing announcements, assembling boxes, making posters and helping out every step of the way. Also a big thank you to the School Council for sponsoring the pizza party and the buses for the trips to the Food Bank. This was definitely a team effort!
Thank you Steve MacLean families for helping to feed our community and helping to ensure that NO ONE GOES HUNGRY.
